In short: this website sets no cookies, uses no third-party tracking and only loads content from other providers (e.g. videos or podcast players) once you explicitly click on it. I only process personal data to the extent necessary to operate the site or to reply to your message.

The website and content management system are hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with ALL-INKL.

When pages are accessed, the server stores technically necessary access data (IP address, date and time, requested address, referrer, browser and operating system, HTTP status). This serves the secure and stable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are only stored for as long as necessary for this purpose and are then deleted automatically.

This website sets no cookies and stores no information on your device that is not technically required to display the site (Section 25 TDDDG). A cookie banner is therefore not necessary.

To understand which content is being read, I use the open-source software Matomo. Matomo runs on my own server at ALL-INKL (analytics.janwokittel.me); no data is transferred to third parties.

Matomo is configured so that it sets no cookies and IP addresses are shortened before they are stored. It records the pages visited, date and time, the referring page as well as browser, operating system and screen resolution. You are not recognized across several days or websites. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in data-minimizing audience measurement (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If “Do Not Track” is enabled in your browser, you are not tracked. Matomo is only loaded on the published website, not in test or preview environments.

If you write to me via the contact form, I process your name, your email address, the topic you selected and your message. The information is transmitted to my content management system and sent from there to me by email via ALL-INKL's mail server. I use it exclusively to answer your inquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete it as soon as the inquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations prevent this. The same applies if you email me directly.

To protect against spam, your browser solves a small computational puzzle when you submit the form (ALTCHA, proof of work). The puzzle comes from my own server; no cookies are set and no data is transferred to third parties. To prevent mass abuse, an irreversible hash of your IP address is cached for a maximum of one hour.

Videos from YouTube or Vimeo as well as podcast players from Spotify or Apple Podcasts are only loaded once you click on them. Before that, there is no connection to these providers. By clicking, you consent to the respective provider receiving data such as your IP address (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). YouTube videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).

The providers are Google Ireland Limited (YouTube), Vimeo.com, Inc., Spotify AB and Apple Distribution International Ltd. Data may be transferred to the USA in the process; the providers are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or use standard contractual clauses. You can find details in the providers' privacy policies.

Posts contain links to other websites, e.g. to LinkedIn, GitHub or publishers. These links are simple references without plugins; data is only transferred once you click a link and open the other site.

Some links to books are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. If you follow such a link, Amazon's privacy policy applies on amazon.de; I do not receive any personal data about you.

The fonts are served directly by this website; there is no connection to Google Fonts or other font providers. The search runs entirely in your browser; your search terms never leave your device.

You have the right to access the data I hold about you, to rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, to data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. An informal email to mail@janwokittel.me is sufficient.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.
